Frequently asked questions
Have questions about enrolment, age requirements, or our programs? We’ve answered some of the questions families ask most often.
We welcome children from 2 to 6 years old across our four programs. Our Prep Program is designed for children ages 2–3, Preschool for ages 3–4, Kindergarten for ages 4–5, and our Foundations Program accepts children from ages 2–6.
Roche Academy is located at 4 Woodscent Drive, Block 3, Palmiste, in South Trinidad, easily accessible from San Fernando and surrounding areas. We welcome families from across Trinidad, including San Fernando, Palmiste, Gulf View, La Romain, Marabella, Penal-Debe, and more. If you'd like to visit before enrolling, we encourage you to contact us to arrange a tour.
Yes. Our Foundations Program is specifically designed for children with developmental delays, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and related needs. It follows the STAR curriculum (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research), an evidence-based program used internationally for children with Autism and developmental differences. Each child receives an individualized learning plan developed from a formal assessment at the start of term, targeting communication, social skills, independence, and learning-to-learn skills. The program runs at a 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio and includes weekly speech therapy, occupational therapy, and gymnastics sessions (at an additional cost). Children in Foundations also have opportunities for inclusion and social participation with the wider school community. As children develop skills and meet readiness criteria, they may transition into our mainstream programs.
We offer four programs for children ages 2–6. Our Prep Program gives toddlers a warm and structured first school experience. Our Preschool Program builds early literacy, numeracy, and classroom skills. Our Kindergarten Program prepares children for a successful transition into primary school. Our Foundations Program provides individualized support for children with Autism, developmental delays, or other developmental needs, using an evidence-based curriculum with a low 1:3 teacher-to-student ratio.
Our Prep Program runs from 8:30am to 11:30am, as does the Foundations Program. Our Preschool Program is 8:30am to 12:30pm, and our Kindergarten Program runs from 8:30am to 1:15pm to allow more time for structured learning as children get older.
All programs run Monday to Friday. We offer part-time options for our Prep Program (3 days/week) if full-time attendance doesn't suit your family's needs. Please contact us at (868) 331-2544 or rocheacademyltd@gmail.com if you have questions about scheduling.
We keep class sizes intentionally small so every child receives meaningful individual attention. Our ratios are: Prep 1:5, Preschool 1:6, Kindergarten 1:6, and Foundations 1:3. The Foundations ratio in particular allows our teachers to deliver the level of individualized, structured support that children with developmental needs require to make consistent progress.
No. We understand that toilet training is a developmental process and every child progresses at their own pace. Our team works closely with families during this stage and supports children as they build independence skills such as pulling pants and pull-ups up and down, sitting comfortably on the toilet, handwashing, and following toileting routines.
Our Prep, Preschool, and Kindergarten programs follow an integrated curriculum grounded in Montessori principles and Ministry of Education (MOE) guidelines. Children learn through a balance of play-based experiences, hands-on activities, and structured learning that supports academic, social, and emotional development.
Our Foundations Program follows the STAR curriculum (Strategies for Teaching based on Autism Research), a structured, evidence-based developmental curriculum designed for children with autism and developmental delays. Teaching in Foundations is individualized, goal-directed, and delivered through center-based activities, play, and structured one-on-one and small group instruction.
We use ClassDojo as our main communication platform. The app is free for parents to use. Through the app, parents receive updates, photos, and information about classroom activities so they can stay connected to their child’s day. Parents can also communicate directly with their child’s teachers through the app.
We offer karate, gymnastics, sports, ballet, and pan (available at an additional cost), while music and movement is included within our curriculum.
Tuition varies by program and is charged per term. Our Prep Program is $4,500 per term for part-time attendance (3 days/week) or $6,500 per term for full-time enrollment. The Foundations Program is $8,500 per term. Both our Preschool and Kindergarten programs are $7,500 per term. In addition to tuition, there is a one-time assessment fee and registration fee to secure your child's placement, and a yearly building fund contribution. We're happy to discuss payment options or answer any questions about fees. Please contact us at (868) 331-2544 or rocheacademyltd@gmail.com.
Yes, and we strongly encourage it. We believe that choosing a preschool is one of the most important decisions a family makes, and we want you to see our environment, meet our teachers, and ask any questions before making that decision. Contact us by phone, email, or through our enquiry form to arrange a visit at a time that works for you.
Enrolment begins with an enquiry, followed by a parent and child interview, completion of registration forms, and payment of a registration fee to secure a space.
You can contact us via phone at (868) 331-2544, via email at rocheacademyltd@gmail.com, or through our enquiry form below. We will be happy to guide you through the process. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 1:30pm.
